Our history

Our corporate office is nestled in the City of Apalachicola, a beautiful town established in the early 1800s. It is surrounded by the Apalachicola Bay and River system, and it is this natural beauty and historical significance which keeps us here. 

Our Mission

As a local business, Garlick Environmental Associates Inc. has been a proponent and supporter of many events held in our area which benefits our city, its citizens and its natural surroundings.  This hands-on involvement has given us a unique position to observe how change can affect natural resources and lifestyles far beyond the city limits. We continue to advise new and returning clients (friends) to navigate through the regulations and requirements to meet their specific goals. 

Dan Garlick, Professional Wetland Scientist↫

❧ After graduating from Florida State University, Dan was employed by the State of Florida Department of Environmental Regulations (now the Florida Department of Environmental Protection) before eventually finding his way to the City of Apalachicola. There he served as the Department of Community Affairs Planning Manager for the Apalachicola Bay Area of Critical Concern before he established the firm. Dan holds a Private Pilot license as well as a professional certification with the Society of Wetland Scientists, a national association.

Rachel Rudd, Environmental Specialist ↫

❧ Rachel graduated from Franklin County School in 2022, having lived in Apalachicola for most of her life. Afterward, she joined the Conservation Corps of the Forgotten and Emerald Coasts in Eastpoint, FL. She stayed there for 2 years as a crew member, gathering work experience, certifications, and training in workforce development, plant propagation and care, shoreline restoration, fire mitigation for endangered species, trail maintenance, and construction projects. In early 2024 she joined our company to gather more experience in the field while she prepares to return to college to finish her associate's degree, before pursuing a bachelor's degree in Environmental Sciences.
